Bret Baier, the host of Fox News' "Special Report," successfully secured an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also the Democratic nominee for the upcoming presidential election. During her campaign stop in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, Harris expressed her pride in receiving endorsements from former Republicans and individuals associated with the Trump administration. She conveyed her gratitude for their support, emphasizing the significance of their backing as she positions herself as a viable candidate for the presidency.
The interview, however, was fraught with difficulties, revealing several moments that were particularly uncomfortable and damaging to her image as a leader. As the discussion began, Baier introduced the pressing issue of illegal immigration, and it was evident that Harris's demeanor shifted dramatically, as if she had lost her composure before even addressing the first question. In an attempt to regain control of the conversation, she resorted to a lengthy response, referencing the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. Harris claimed that this legislation aimed to rectify the shortcomings of the asylum system by proposing an increase in judges, a significant boost in border personnel, and enhanced measures to combat the flow of fentanyl, all while highlighting her efforts to foster bipartisan cooperation to fortify border security.
Baier, however, countered her assertions with well-documented facts, which momentarily left Harris looking bewildered, a familiar expression that suggests she is struggling to formulate her responses. In her effort to pivot the conversation, she leaned on her previous experience as California's Attorney General, attempting to assert her qualifications to manage the ongoing crisis. This approach, however, failed to acknowledge the fundamental issue at hand: the existence of the crisis itself serves as a clear indication of her inability to effectively address and resolve such challenges in her current role.
The most reprehensible aspect of the issue of illegal immigration is the inability of Harris to articulate an apology for permitting criminals to enter the country, which led to the tragic deaths of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin.
BAIER: Former president Clinton actually referred to Laken Riley Sunday, campaigning for you in Georgia, saying, “If those men had been properly vetted, Laken Riley probably would not have been killed.”
So, it wouldn’t have happened. This is well before any negotiation. This is well before Donald Trump got involved in the politics. This is a specific policy decision by your administration to release these men into the country.
So what I’m saying to you is...
HARRIS: No, no –
BAIER: Do you owe those families –
HARRIS: I think it’s really – I think –
BAIER: -- An apology?
Harris quickly reverted to her usual disorganized speech, and frankly, this represented her most unfavorable appearance. She frequently asserts that she advocates for women and seeks to safeguard their "reproductive freedom." However, what about safeguarding their lives? What measures is she taking to protect them from being victimized by men who should not be present in the country? Where is her commitment to addressing these issues?

HARRIS: Let me just say first of all, those are tragic cases. There’s no question about that. There is no question about that. And I can’t imagine the pain that the families of those victims have experienced, for a loss that should not have occurred. So that is true. It is also true that if a border security [bill] had actually been passed nine months ago, it would be nine months that we would have had more border agents at the border, more support for the folks who are working around the clock trying to hold it all together
BAIER: Madam Vice President –
HARRIS: -- to ensure that no future harm would occur. And this election in 20 days will determine whether we have a President of the United States who actually cares more about fixing a problem even if it is not to their political advantage in an election, because there was a solution, Bret.
BAIER: Madam Vice President, it was a policy decision in the early part of your administration. I will let one of the mothers talk about it. Take a listen.
[Nungary’s mother speaks about Alternatives to Detention Program]
BAIER: That’s the early days. So do you owe them an apology, is what I’m saying?
Harris ultimately comes to recognize the devastation she inflicted upon the victims and their families. However, she refrains from offering a genuine apology. Instead, she opts to attribute the situation to the absence of a border security bill and, predictably, to Trump.
HARRIS: I will tell you that I am so sorry for her loss. I am so sorry for her loss. Sincerely. But let’s talk about what is happening right now with an individual who does not want to participate in solutions. Let’s talk about that as well, Bret --
BAIER: But do you want to answer the --
HARRIS: -- in all fairness – I told you, I feel awful for what she and her family have experienced.
Harris' expression conveyed her distress. She resembled a trapped rodent. Such a situation is disgraceful for anyone, particularly for an individual aspiring to lead the free world.
There is a wealth of insights to be derived from this interaction, but the pivotal moment that indicated Harris was in a precarious position occurred when Baier inquired about when she first recognized Biden's cognitive challenges.
BAIER: When did you first notice?
Harris exhibits a "darting eye" behavior, suggesting that she was searching for a falsehood.
HARRIS: Joe Biden is not on the ballot. Donald Trump is on the ballot.
BAIER: You met with him once a week for three years. Did you have any concerns?
It deteriorates significantly from that point onward.
In my final evaluation, you are campaigning for the presidency of the United States. Your role entails upholding the Constitution while offering guidance, support, and leadership to the American populace. Your defense or counterargument cannot simply be, "But, but, Trump!!!!"
It is utterly irrational. Following her display of outrage and offense, that is precisely the impression she conveyed.
Baier disclosed during the panel discussion that Harris arrived 15 minutes late for their interview, creating a sense of urgency among the participants. As she began to filibuster, evade direct questions, and deliver a convoluted response, it only intensified the chaos of the interview.
The Trump campaign responded swiftly.
If this does not jeopardize her campaign, I am uncertain what will.
